Graduate of the BPS Adult Learning Center
Plans to continue education at a college, university, or technical program

Scholarship Information:
The Sharon Burian Memorial Scholarship was established by her son, Steve Burian, to honor Sharon’s lifelong dedication to education. In 1984, Sharon began her career with Bismarck Public Schools as a coordinator and instructor at the Adult Learning Center, where she worked for 22 years before retiring in July 2006. Throughout her career, she was an active member of the Bismarck Education Association, the North Dakota Education Association, the National Council of Teachers of English, and the North Dakota Adult Basic and Secondary Education Association.
Sharon was a passionate adult educator who devoted her career to empowering learners of all ages. Following her passing in September 2024, this scholarship was created to continue her legacy of opening doors to education.
Each year, one $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student attending the Adult Learning Center who plans to continue their journey in higher education. Through this award, Sharon’s commitment to lifelong learning will live on in the success of future students.
