Scholarship Information:

The Señora “B” Kind Memorial Scholarship was established in 2023 by the family of Susie Brynjolfson-Meide and the CHS Staff to honor her memory. This scholarship was endowed to support CHS students who have completed at least 2 years of Spanish with preference given to those who are involved in extra-curriculars (athletic, academic or fine arts/music) with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.

Susie had the quote, “In a world where you can be anything, be kind” on her desk in her classroom. Those words perfectly sum up the person that Susie was. She was a joy to work with and a fantastic leader. Her bright smile and laughter would light up the room. Susie had a heart of gold, was kind, genuine, and real. Susie had a love for language and travel and dedicated 32 years of her life as a Spanish teacher at Century High School.

Susie looked beyond academics for the students in her classroom, and really wanted to see what was going on in their lives and be there as a resource and mentor for them. Señora B, as she was referred to by her students, wanted to put enthusiasm into learning, and absolutely believed in the power of education and all the doors that it opened. The main goal for this memorial is to continue Susie’s mission to place happiness and positivity back into the world.

In addition to that standard application, applicants will be asked to complete the following prompt: Susie lived by the motto, “In a world where you can be anything, Be Kind.” Respond how you live to “Be Kind”.The scholarship committee shall consist of the Foreign language Dept Chair, a CHS instructor and a member of the CHS administrative staff. Final decisions will lie with Meide family upon recommendations of the scholarship committee.
