- BPS Athlete
- Must exhibit solid moral character and strong academic performance
- Preference given to: CHS Track & Field shot put, discus, weight, or javelin thrower
Scholarship Information:
The Dixon Wightman Scholarship was established in 2011 by Steve Burian to honor Dixon Wightman, a longtime Bismarck Public School (BPS) teacher and Track & Field Coach.
The purpose of the scholarship will be to financially assist a senior or seniors from any Bismarck Public School to continue their post-secondary education. The award will be made to an athlete or athletes who generally exhibit solid moral character and strong academic performance. Preference will be given to a Century High School shot put, discus, weight, or javelin thrower.
The award will be made according to the following priority:
1. Century High School shot put, discus, weight, or javelin thrower.
2. Bismarck High School or Legacy High School shot put, discus, weight, or javelin thrower.
3. Century High School track & field athlete.
4. Bismarck High School or Legacy High School track & field athlete.
5. Century High School cross country athlete.
6. Bismarck High School or Legacy High School cross country athlete.
The Advisory Committee shall consist of the Bismarck Public Schools Athletic Director, Century High School Boy’s/Girl’s Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches, Bismarck High School Boy’s/Girl’s Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches, and Legacy High School Boy’s/Girl’s Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches. This committee will make recommendations for the disbursement of awards from the Fund.
