Students In Transition
The Students in Transition program has existed in Bismarck since the 2006-07 school year with the goal of ensuring that all students have equal access to an education, regardless of their current economic situation. Students in the program have been considered the “hidden homeless” as their current living situation has them doubled-up or living with another person or family due to a financial hardship. Once students are in the program, they receive services for the entire school year, no matter how their living situation changes.
These services include back-to-school supplies, free breakfast and lunch, transportation, athletic equipment, as well as other club supplies.
The Students in Transition Program relies on federal grants to provide transportation needs, as well as some funding from the district.
Donations to this program help in purchasing items throughout the year, such as school supplies and winter gear.
