Mental Health
1 in 5 youth have a Mental Health condition and over 50% of these youth do not receive treatment. Almost half (46%) of youth in the US have some type of traumatic experience. Locally our statistics are as follows:
• 7,297 reports of child abuse and neglect in North Dakota in 2018
• 52,000 North Dakota residents reported a substance abuse disorder in 2016 which is slightly higher than the national average
BPS promotes Mental Health for All, which includes the following services for BPS Students:
• Assistance in providing basic needs that increase their ability to focus and learn (ex. food, clothing, internet, etc.)
• Tools for self regulation and calming
• Social Emotional Learning
• Mentoring programs
• Team Building activities that help to build and grow healthy relationships
The Personal Excellence of our students is connected to Staff Wellness, which includes the following services for BPS Staff:
• Teacher/Staff Recognition Activities
• Developing School Connectedness through positive climate and culture
• Training for self-care and coping strategies
• Mentoring programs
• Team Building activities that help to build and grow healthy relationships
