Scholarship developed to honor Bismarck Accompanist Jan Gilbertson

The Jan Gilbertson Scholarship was established in 2022 by her family to honor her impact on the music and theater community in Bismarck. Two $1000 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors from Bismarck Public Schools to continue their post-secondary education. It was endowed to permanently support BPS students who are active in a high school music program while also actively participating in Sleepy Hollow Summer Theater during the summer as an actor, musician, or stagehand.

Over her 30+ years working with students, Jan accompanied 90 musicals with Sleepy Hollow Summer Theater, Bismarck High, Century High, Mandan High and Bismarck State College. During that time she also accompanied middle school and high school choirs at Hughes, Horizon, Century and Bismarck High, supporting and inspiring thousands of Bismarck music students along the way.
