In September, the BPS Student Services department identified a significant need for cold-weather gear throughout the district and reached out to the Bismarck Public Schools Foundation for their assistance in meeting the needs. BPSF, along with the help from their community partners, developed a cold-weather drive for the collection of snow boots, water-repellent gloves and snow pants.
Once again, our community stepped up to help our BPS youth in a big way and we were able to cover every established need within the Bismarck community, purchasing hundreds of items for our students in need through donated funds. Thank you to our community partner SCHEELS sporting goods for their commitment to match a pair of gloves for each pair of snow boots purchased.
Donor John Risch stated, “I’m grateful that the Bismarck Public Schools Foundation saw this need and did something to address it, and for SCHEELS’ generous support of our school children and their other support in our community. My wife Kathi and I were happy to chip in. Children going to school without adequate winter clothing is a bad deal…been there, done that,”
For those that would like more information on BPS program areas of need please feel free to reach out to the BPS Foundation or go to https://bpsfoundation.com/support-your-passion/.
Again, we thank everyone who has contributed to this cause as it helped to impact so many lives across our district. Thank you to our event partners SCHEELS, Townsquare media, Probitas Promotions and BPS along with the Bismarck Tribune for their help in promoting this effort.
