In August the Bismarck Public Schools Foundation asked the Bismarck-Mandan community to help our students and their families who were struggling to pay for their student lunches. BPS serves meals to all students, regardless of their ability to pay, but many families are struggling and cannot afford to pay those meals back. We are very pleased to announce that because of the generous donations within our community we were able to help all student/families in need across the whole district. Additionally, the USDA has decided that they will cover student meals through the rest of the school year, so these families will not have to struggle through this challenging time.
After helping these families, the amount remaining will be utilized next fall to help assist student lunch efforts as the need arises. Thank you those who were giving of their financial resources. Any additional funding received that is earmarked for this purpose throughout this year will be saved for future use as needed.
The Bismarck Public Schools Foundation funds a variety of needs, programs and schools within the Bismarck Public School District. The areas of need are broken out into 5 key areas as shown:
• Arts, Culture and Athletics
• Basic Needs (including student hunger, winter gear & the CV-19 BPS Family Assistance Fund)
• Early Childhood
• Scholarships & Grants
• Special Education
If you would like to receive detailed information on the programs within these areas of need please feel free to reach out or go to https://bpsfoundation.com/support-your-passion/.
Again, we thank those who have contributed to this cause as it helped to impact so many lives across our district.
